The Wall Projekt--How Bbay Celebrated I-Day!

While one billion plus population decided what to do on Independence Day, The Wall Project was on in Bombay! And never has a holiday been well spent! The aim was to get the local artists and enthusiatic citizens to paint a stretch of wall between Mahim and Matunga. The response was vibrant and the interpretations ranged from dark, intense to funny and casual! There were street kids drawing flowers and veteran artists venturing out with dragons!
Wall scrapping and Wall chatting are such mundane things compared to Wall painting! Especially if the cityscape has to be beautified. There were chaiwallas, who in the spirit of I-Day were distributing free chai to all the artists.
The Facebook Page for the event is here : The Great Wall of Mumbai
My favourite Wall was this
