I asked God a Question

I asked God a Question
He gave me adversity as an answer
I gave him a puzzled look
To which He said "Adversity will make you tough"
I shed tears at my incapability and looked up for more
He smiled and said " Yours tears will moisten the ground beneath your feet and make it easier for you to walk"
I continued the walk, wiser and free.

To all the men in the world

the girl is front of you in your wife
she has had a wonderful life at her home...
in a world thats starkly against most things female
the odds of her getting educated were less..
still in an unfair world she battled out with you and more of you
and has stuck out so far...
the girl in front of you is a wife
she knows just like you that culinary skills are arbitrary..
if they were that important, you mum would have taught a thing or too to you
so when that button has fallen from a shirt
isn't it unfair that your mom mocks her?
the wet towel on you bed is a sign of your laziness
not hers...if you want a room clean, make it so yourself
'teamwork' isnt a term in corporate dictionaries, its a phrase for family life too..
the girl in front of you is your wife
she went to a co-ed school just like you ...
the many flings that you had will be classified as "he's a guy"
and the one good friendship that she had will be categorized as "affair"
even now at workplace she has male colleagues, who she wants to befriend
for your irrationality and jealousy she might maintain a distance..
will you do the same? then why expect her to do so...
the woman in front of you is your wife...
you expect her to cook once she's at home..
can you cook after 8 hours of work and travel?
did your sister cook after 8 hours of work in her own home?
Just like you had tantrums and waited for a career high
she waited too and persevered...
then why does a woman at 30 seem 'wrong'
while a man at '30' is still marriageable..
the woman in front of you is human just like you
emotions don't change just because they reside in a different gender
Keep that in mind.

Being round and being a foodie has its advantages. You dont have to have immense qualifications..neither do you need a grasp of table manners(dhabas across Bharat Mata serve the best food and forks and spoons is hardly the way to eat it!) .heck you just need overactive tastebuds, bottomless pit for a stomach and a sense of aroma!
But all these qualifications fail if you are in the Lower Parel of Amchi Mumbai for almost 8 hours everyday. The dearth of good, affordable restaurants is stifling. And because I crave variety, things can get quite repetitive when you have few options. You can almost see the business opportunity that no one is willing to seize and fret...because its such a great idea. 8 hours..office goers..gulping coffee and solving financial and media riddles..on the go..

A cookie full of joy..

a cookie full of joy
jam dripping all around
cream and chocolate syrup
mysticism profound...

prayer beads of a sufi
a Gibran verse
flowing white curtains
and 'Suraj Hua Maddham'

p.s--Without curtains and rain you cant experience the innate joy in 'Suraj Hua Maddham' from K3G

Tata's nano is here

So the 1 lakh car is here. With it, it has brought hope to a lot of Indians, environmental activism, oil price concerns, pollution watch and a threat to two wheelers.
The Tata Group's global footprint and mettle has been proven with this new release and it hopes to make the automobile world sit up and take notice. Detractors with brand devaluation on their minds can take a hike!
Though the car's design isnt like the futuristic cars that you see so often in tech magazines, it certainly is going to herald a new beginning to a market that was largely governed by a rather monopolizing Maruti Suzuki. The nano has unusually small wheels, gives 20 km to a litre and gives add-ons at higher prices. Which means the 1 lakh product is the 'no-frills' one.
Most people are talking about this car as the middle class dream, but the upper middle class that has a lakh or two to spare will make use of the opportunity to add an extra car to their stable. The number of two car families are bound to increase. It remains to be seen how the crumbling infrastructure will cope with the new vehicles on the road.
Vinod Khosla says that anything new that is being invented should be done so keeping India and China in mind. If the price is favorable to the two behemoths, the product is bound to be a success.

Flowers Bloom in Winter too

It seems so bleak and white right now..
but the season comes with its special cheer
the time seems chilly and cool
the warmth from that occasional beer

scattering of moonbeams
gushing of a surprise
let's open the gift boxes
and widen our eyes

fluttering along with the lazy wind
red,green and blue
I dont know if you know this
flowers bloom in winter too

Dedicated to the epicenter of wackiness in my life..a goofie stuffed with spunk..glad to see you back!

Alternative Fuel? Let it be synthesised

That nature and farmland can be used to create a new alternative fuel, was always doubtful. Chemicals, synthesised in a cost effective way, were more appealing. But using farmland for creating cheaper fuels, is hardly the route to take for energy consumption.
This editorial in Technology Review confirms that. It highlights the way the production of ethanol has increased the price of food in the West , and led the way to deficits and demands of a different kind.

More on Benazir Bhutto

Irshad Manji wrtites on her site about the fallacy that media has created about Benazir being brave. The analysis is great and points to the same reasons that I stated in my earlier post. Thought she may have been a brand ambassador for democracy, she hardly converted that image into actions. Which is why, whatever people say, in the aftermath of her death, is eulogy and sentiment. Her death can bring about a tiff between George Bush and Mushararaf, which might if nothing, get the Americans to sit up and take notice.
